After more than 30 successful years in the business Jamie Lewis is recognized worldwide as one of the pioneers of house music and one of the scenes premier House DJ’s & music producer.
2017 GRAMMY MUSIC AWARD NOMINEE Cem Berter aka DJ Jamie Lewis first appeared on the Swiss club scene in 1985, spinning classic disco and funk before getting wrapped up in the late-'80s birth of house, becoming one of the European scene's major players.
In 1987 he opened his own record shop (Dee Jay Service in Winterhur, Switzerland), which became a mainstay of the Swiss DJ scene for 17 years!
Already a major player in shaping house music's future via his club presence, Lewis stepped in to the recording world in 1992, releasing his debut with the Italian UMM label, his sophomore release emerging two years later on the Canadian(John Acquaviva) Definitive Records.
Lewis established his own Purple Music label in 1997, collaborating & remixing since then with influential artists of the dance music international scene like the disco legends Cerrone , Giorgio Moroder, Midnight Star, Pino d Angio’, as well as with “clubstars” like Kraze, Bob Sinclair, Etienne de Crecy, KOT Sandy Rivera,Nicola Fasano, with legendary singers like Jocelyn Brown , India,Michelle Weeks & remixed many song for calibers like The Weather Girls, Billie Ray Martin ,multi awards winner Fatman Scoop
In 2011 he start a collaboration with the iconic Superstar PRINCE !
remixing officially 3 of his songs and releasing them on his label Purple Music :two from the Album Lotusflower “Dance 4 me “(that topped the British &German Dance charts early 2012) & ,”2 Nite” (by Bria Valente produced by Prince) as well as a brand new one“Rock and Roll Love Affair” that topped many club and mainstream charts worldwide late 2012 !
Early 2013 Purple Music released as 4th new song by Prince “Screwdriver”
In 2014 Jamie Lewis had the honour to mix and record @PaisleyPark studio PRINCE&3RDEYEGIRL Album :”PlectrumElectrum”(Warner Music/Npg)
In 2017 jamie Lewis has been nominated @the 59th annual GRAMMY AWARD ACADEMY(Los Angeles) for PRINCE –HIT N RUN –PHASE TWO “as best engeneered Album non classical “
In support of PURPLE MUSIC, in 1997 Lewis began a monthly residency called Purple Music Nights at the Zurich nightspot Kaufleuten for 14 years long. Since then, he has maintained a consistent presence in the world's most important clubs spinning for packed houses and famous clubs in Zurich, Basel,Lausanne, Geneva, New York , L.A.,San Francisco, Ibiza ,Mallorca,Athens, Mykonos,Crete,Dubai , London ,Manchester,Miami , Paris ,Cannes,St Tropez ,Istanbul ,Rome, Milan ,Oporto, Bari, Taranto,Jesolo,Sidney,Hong Kong, St Petersburg, Vilnius, Frankfurt,Stuttgart and in many other cities worldwide!
